When you get to Cambridge (most likely from London, and mostly likely by train), there’s going to be tons of taxis waiting for you to hop on or even the giant double-decker bus ready to gather unknowing tourists into its exhaust-spewing belly. Don’t take any of form of these public transport because the best way to explore Cambridge is by foot (or by bike…but you really don’t need one and you would have to compete with the pro-college student bikers).  Continue reading “Guide to Visiting Cambridge”

I just came back from our goodbye formal and let me tell you, everyone was crying. Tonight was the technical last day of the PKP program although we can stay until Saturday. This has been an amazing experience. Continue reading “Week 8: Program End”

No not the New Year’s countdown but the countdown to the end of the program. I just came back from taking a hundred pictures of the sunset across the King’s College lawn after almost rolling down the stairs in Bodley’s (I was waiting for that to happen, can’t see in the dark), and now I’m totally sad. Also, random bugs are dropping on me so as I am typing, there’s the occasional itch before I squash them. So Week 7 has ended, and now I only have two more classes left before finals and goodbye. Lots of fun things this week with exploring, going to Copenhagen (remember last week when I did the most exercise in my life while punting, this trip has now replaced that record), and hanging out.

There’s only two more weeks left in the program and it hit me as I was walking into the King’s College Gatehouse late at night. Looking up at the intricate gatehouse…I sorta teared up (wow so emotional). I’m going to miss this place. Week 6 was full of touristy fun with my dad and also struggling to stay awake in class.

The second module has started and its the beginning of the last leg of the program. Time passed really quickly. Anyhow, here’s a catalogue of my thoughts on my new class and some trial and error things I’ve been exploring HAHA. Continue reading “Week 5: New Classes and Exploring”

Half of the PKP program has now been completed and I will be starting my last class soon. It was a stressful few days but my friend (ELLIE <3) and bought last minute tickets to Barcelona and the trip made it all better.

Wow, it’s already the middle of week 3 for the program and finals for Module 1 courses are already coming up. I just finished a long essay for one of my Module 1 courses and I really regret not following international politics closely these past few years (please read the news kids, your life will reach great clarity and your college writing life will increase ten-fold). Here are some highlights of the past weeks and some more glimpse in to Cambridge life.

When I was picking my accommodation for the PKP program, there was little to no information on how each of the housing choices looked like and what they included so I will try my best here to provide pictures or descriptions so you can make better accommodation choices!

My first week at the University of Cambridge has passed and it was busy busy busy. I’m definitely still trying to pace my work out and adjusting to the workload but so far so good! After an exciting and fast-paced week, I finally got to sit down and write down some of my experiences and my first impression of the program.  Continue reading “Arrival and Week 1”

I participated with UCEAP (UC system)  which takes care of a lot of things so my tips may be a little different from other schools and countries but here are some important information to take note of when applying for the summer Pembroke-King’s Programme at the University of Cambridge.
